Young and Son Finish Carpentry is a father and son owned company based in Portland, OR with a great passion for older, classic homes. Third and fourth generation carpenters from Scottish decent, you could safely say that it’s in our blood.

We do what we do because we love it and are motivated more by our passion for homes and carpentry than by profit. If you have ever worked with anyone who does what they do “just for the money”, there is a stark difference in not only the craftsmanship, but the experience.

We strive to be an environmentally and socially conscious company….

1. Remodel. We believe that it is better to improve and renew the existing than to destroy rural lands to build new.

2. Waste. The majority of it can and does get source-separated and recycled.

3. Salvage. Some materials that come out of a project can be reused on site or donated.

4. Wood. Thankfully, today’s forests are much better managed than before and lest we forget, trees are a renewable resource.

5. Buy Local. We strive to use smaller, locally owned suppliers and subcontractors. We believe that a strong local economy is key to improving neighborhoods and building community.
